When I first started teaching, I remember feeling like the 2 hours of main lesson was an eternity. I thought it would be impossible to fill that time with valuable content.
These days I’m far more likely to run out of time and not get to everything, than to have extra time on my hands. The truth is that when you understand the different components of main lesson, you’ll see how the time just flies by and you don’t need to figure out how to fill that 2 hour main lesson from scratch every single day.
Have you signed up for my course The Practical Art of the Waldorf Classroom yet? The course just started on February 16, but you can still get in for a couple more days. Check out the contents of the course here. I’d love to have you along.
Main lesson is broken down into 4 sections (click below for an old blog post about each one):
A few years ago I recorded episodes dedicated to each one.
If you want more material about the structure of main lesson, you might check out episodes #9, #21 and #22. There’s some good content about the different kinds activities you’ll be doing in each component.
But for this episode, I wanted to talk about how all 4 of those components come together to create a holistic lesson. For more specific ideas of activities that you’ll do in each one, you can check out those other episodes. There’s also a lot of content on the blog about each one.
