As the school year winds down to a close I’ve started to think about how to collect everything that we’ve done into a body of information that could be of some use to people. Here are the things I hope to create.
- A dictation e-book. The rhythm I use for dictations is one of my favorite things about the work we’ve done this year. I hope to write a little manual about how to use dictation and then include all of the dictations we used this year.
- A collection of photos of our paintings with instructions on how to create each one.
- A study guide for each of the three readers we used this year.
- Photographs of our main lesson book pages, collected into study guides for each block. My plan is that this would not be a resource to use on it’s own rather it would cite useful resources and bring new ideas for presenting the block.
- A collection of essential documents — block rotation, weekly schedule, block summaries, etc.
The great thing about it is that this is all information I already have completed — I just need to collect it. I hope to begin soon — starting with the dictation book and block guides.

I can’t wait to see any of those resources you choose to share. They all look really useful.

I second Alyss’ comment! We’re wrapping up Grade 5 as well, and I’ve enjoyed your commentary on it so far. We’ll be revisiting Greece, etc., with our next child in just a few years.

I will be teaching 5th grade next year, and I have enjoyed reading your comments. I look forward to these resources when you have time to put them together. I love the paintings!

Thanks Teri. I’m hoping to be able to get those resources together soon, though I’ve got reports to write, too. I’m so pleased with so many of the things we did this year, I’m happy to be able to share them.
