The last entry in my series about main lesson rhythm is about the new content part of the lesson.
I usually save the last half hour (sometimes 20 minutes) to present the new content. Usually this takes the form of a story. During a history block telling a story is clear enough, but even during a math block it is important to make the new content come alive in an imaginative way. Usually this is easiest to do in story form, but there are lots of ways to bring content in an alive way. As is always the case, the goal is to have the children interested and engaged throughout.
As I post about the various blocks my students and I cover together I’ll share the imaginative and fun ways the new content comes alive.
